Metropolitan Saturday Academy
Science and Technology Program

The Saturday Academy is an historic educational heritage experience. Creative learning and non-traditional experiences will be presented by experts in the fields of technology, communications, education, career development, and history.

The Saturday Academy provides comprehensive, educational outreach in areas including science, math, technology, computers, career development, communications and history.

As a result of the 1998 passing of the Network to Freedom Act and the collaboration of multiple grassroots organizations, the International Network to Freedom Association (INTFA) was formed. The Saturday Academy is one of the four educational initiatives offered through this Association. This program highlights educating youth and adults in the history of the Underground Railroad (URR) as well as promoting racial harmony.

Research opportunities are offered for participants to expand their understanding about the URR. The program will encourage participants to utilize their talents and abilities to showcase acquired URR knowledge in the form of interpretive art, music, poetry, storytelling and dance.

A major focus of the Saturday Academy is to develop programs for multicultural youth by creating innovative methods of educating to maximize their learning potential. The program is offered without regard to race, gender, religion, national origin, age, or disability.

There are no registration fees for this program. Funding will be provided by Federal agencies and private organizations.
