Kiamsha Facts

KIAMSHA was founded by a long-time citizen and community activist, Mrs. Dorothy F. Bailey, in Prince George's County, Maryland. It was established in 1992 at Hunter Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church located in Suitland, Maryland. KIAMSHA was designed to provide young African Americans with empowerment skills and to enrich their minds with positive aspects of the present and future to prevent self destruction. Mrs. Bailey named Barbara Spencer Dunn as director of the youth organization in 1993; and in 2000 two Kiamsha Alumni, Renada Johnson and Tiffany Clarke became co-directors of this youth organization which epitomizes the motto of Kiamsha, "the blending of generations to empower our youth." Mrs. Dunn moved into the role of Executive Director and is an ambassador for the mission of this organization around the world.
